Sweden : 50 Kronor, 2014; Paper : Reverse ; size : 126 mm x 66 mm
Sweden has been part of the European Union since 1995 but still remains outside the eurozone. The latest banknotes of the Kronor are themed as the ‘Culture Journey’ series featuring various cultural regions of the nation. This 50’s reverse showcases the landscape of Bohuslan also marked on the map. Some of the rock carvings from Tanum in the northern part of the province are shown in the centre. The distinctive artistry and motifs of humans, weapons, boats and symbols are seen on the granite rocks of the region. Carved during the bronze age they represent a unique artistic achievement and window into over thousand years of human history, permanently emblazoned on the nation’s monetary landscape.
