The Loire Valley is an outstanding cultural landscape of great beauty, covering historic towns and villages, great architectural monuments and cultivated lands formed by many centuries of interaction between the landscape and man. The Châteaux of Sully-sur-Loire is the best example of a medieval fortress built at the strategic river crossing. Maurice de Sully (shown alongside) was born in Sully-sur-Loire and became the Bishop of Paris responsible for the Cathedral of Notre-Dame (shown on the obverse). A unique banknote that features two UNESCO heritage sites on its two sides, both of whom were certified long after they were featured on this artistically designed banknote reflecting exemplary French banknote art.
